Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program > EFNEP Youth

Limited income youth ages 5 to 12 are taught nutrition and cooking skills at Title One Schools. After school and summer programs with limited income children are also available.

Third and fifth grade classrooms in Title One Schools are eligible to receive a series of 6 lessons on nutrition, food safety and physical activity. Classes can help teachers meet their health and/or science standards.

Eating a variety of foods from all of the food groups is promoted. Lessons are:

  • Fight Bac
  • My Pyramid
  • Grain Group
  • Vegetables and Fruits
  • Milk Group
  • Meat Group

Lessons are 45 minutes to 1 hour. Food tasting is included in all lessons. Fifth grade lessons include science experiments.

Needed items include a table, access to water and electricity and students who want to have fun.
