One of the simplest way to save money on winter heat bills is to turn down your thermostat. With gas forced air furnaces you can expect to save one percent on your energy bill for every degree you turn your thermostat down, especially at night or while you are gone during the day. When you’re home, a setting of 68 degrees is usually comfortable. Be sure to keep your setting high enough to prevent water pipes from freezing.
