Youth Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program

Youth Expanded Food and Nutrition Education ProgramFirst, third and fifth grade classrooms in Title One Schools are eligible to receive a series of 6 lessons on nutrition, food safety and physical activity. The series of classes can help teachers meet their health and/or science standards.

Eating a variety of foods from all of the 5 food groups, food safet and physical activity is promoted.

Third grade lessons are

  • Delicious Dairy
  • The Power of Protein
  • Food Safety Lesson: Chill


Youth EFNEPFirst grade lessons

  • The Power of Protein Foods
  • Food Safety Lesson:  Clean


Fifth grade lessons include science experiments.

  • A Date with My Plate
  • Breakfast on the Go
  • Make it a Goal to Eat More Fruits and Vegetables
  • You Can't Food Me
  • Make Healthier Choices
  • Overcoming Barries to Healthy Eating

Lessons are 45 minutes. 

Food tasting is included with in all lessons.

Needed items include a table, access to water and electricity and students who want to have fun.

in EFNEP, limited income youth ages 6 to 12 are taught nutrition and cooking skills at Title One Schools.
