The Missoula County Department of Ecology and Extension service is launching a monthly education series called Blooms & Brews. This series will feature expert speakers on various topics related to gardening and our natural world. Donations to this series will go towards the creation and maintenance of the 2.5-acre educational gardens that will be adjoining the newly constructed Rocky Mountain Gardens and Exploration Center at the Missoula Fairgrounds, which will be home to the Missoula County Weed District and Extension, the Missoula Butterfly House & Insectarium and the Missoula Conservation District.

In eager anticipation of spring join us and start planning your upcoming garden!
Devon Malizia is a landscape designer and garden consultant focused on ecological design. Devon owns Trellis & Trowel based out of Helena, MT, and is also a designer for Garden Werks. She is designing and installing a native forb crevice garden for the Rocky Mountain Garden and will be presenting on the importance, beauty, and ecological value of crevice gardens. In addition to the presentation, Devon will demonstrate how to plan, build, and plant a crevice garden.
We will be creating container crevice gardens in the class!
Plant material, soil, and stone will be provided to create a container crevice garden.
You must bring your own shallow pot.
