Blooms and Brews

The Missoula County Weed District and Extension service is launching a monthly education series called Blooms and Brews. This series will feature expert speakers on various topics related to gardening and our natural world. Donations to this series will go towards the creation and maintenance of the 2.5-acre educational gardens that will be adjoining the newly constructed Rocky Mountain Gardens and Exploration Center at the Missoula Fairgrounds, which will be home to the Missoula County Weed District & Extension, the Missoula Butterfly House & Insectarium and the Missoula Conservation District.

Join us next Tuesday to learn about the Montana Heritage Apple Program.

Montana has a rich and pioneering history of fruit production. Dr. Zach Miller, director of the MSU-Western Ag. Research Center, will discuss this history and the Montana heritage orchard program’s efforts to document this history and identify and preserve unique, heirloom fruit tree varieties. He’ll also highlight the ongoing efforts at the MSU-Western Agricultural Research Center to support fruit growers in the region.
