To address the potential risk to Montana’s horses, Montana Department of Livestock (MDOL) has released an emergency rule to require Certificate of Veterinary Inspections (CVI’s) for horses entering Montana, regardless of origin, to be issued within 72 hours of entry and have disabled the Global Vet Link extended equine CVI (EEVI) for horses entering Montana. Important Notes and Recommendations
1. The statewide authority for the movement of horses, mules and donkeys is the Montana Department of Livestock. Check their website at liv.mt.gov for the most current updates. The current emergency travel requirements will be in place until December 18th- 28 days after the November 20th order (*document link below).
2. For specific questions, contact your regular veterinarian. They will have the most knowledge of your situation. Note that your veterinarian might be taking extra biosecurity measures during your regularly scheduled appointments, so allow for extra time and new expectations.
