Is the Youth in Restoration Program for you?

• Are you a high school student aged 14-18 years old?
• Can you get to the Missoula County Weed District office Monday - Friday by 8:00 a.m.?
• Will miss no more than 4 workdays throughout the 8-9 week employment period.
• Do you enjoy hands-on tasks, outdoors in all kinds of weather and locations?
• Do you like having fun working to improve or restore public lands?
• Does camping as part of your job sound fun?

Important Dates:

• Apply by Friday, May 10th, 2024
• Interviews TBA, 2024
• Employment typically runs from the third week of June through the third week of August

Partnerships

The extensive partnerships involved in making this program successful enable the YIR to work with a variety of experts within different levels of land management. The youth crew is involved with; land management professionals from state and federal agencies, conservation managers from the City and the University, botanists and range technicians from DNRC and Forest Service, local ranchers, and land stewards from non-profit partners. The partnerships between state, federal, and private agencies will ensure a variety of land-use/conservation/restoration work experience for the youth crew and the collaboration is beneficial for all.
