Become a Garden Specialist

What are your interests? 

Garden Specialists receive specific training around a particular garden space. Specialist groups operate independently from weekly public volunteer events. 

Specialty areas include: 

  • Tomatoes
    • transplanting, pruning, trellising, harvesting, etc.
  • Dahlias
    • planting, disbudding, harvesting, etc.
  • Native Plantings 
    • weeding & maintaining the Native Prairie, Crevice Garden, & Forest Garden
  • Seed Stewards
    • cleaning & storing seeds collected from the Gardens and elsewhere; collecting seed from the Gardens
  • Greenhouse (early spring)
    • propagation and other greenhouse tasks
  • Garden Ambassadors
    • open or close the garden gates on Saturdays and first Wednesdays; ensure a safe, respectful environment for all visitors

How to Become a Garden Specialist

We encourage garden specialists to create a profile on POINT, our volunteer platform. This will allow you to view and register for upcoming events, and to receive reminders and updates. 

Specialist events are generally not listed on the website.
