Pesticide Applicator Spring Training

Native and Invasive Plant Identification
Introduction to the diversity of native ecosystems, plant communities, and native plants of Montana, as well as tips to identifying them in the field to prevent off-target damage during herbicide applications that may increase risk of secondary invasion from other weedy species.

Reading Herbicide Labels
All pesticides have instructional information on vital safety and usage, called a pesticide label. Each pesticide has different mixing and loading instructions, precautionary statements, ingredients, storage, first aid, and other details specific to its use. Through interactive lessons, applicators will become familiar with where to locate specifics within common herbicide labels.

Simple and Effective Weed Mapping
Learn how to efficiently and effectively map noxious weed infestations. This course will cover the latest weed mapping tools, from GPS units to Web Apps. We will learn about various mapping strategies and conduct a field exercise to put everything into practice.

Hands-On Calibration of Herbicide Application Equipment
This practical, hands-on presentation is designed to train participants in the accurate calibration of herbicide application equipment to ensure effective, efficient, and environmentally responsible weed control. Participants will learn how to determine the correct Gallons Per Acre (GPA) output of their sprayers and calculate precise herbicide mixing rates based on label recommendations.
