Aquatic Herbicide Case Studies
-
The DEQ general pesticide permit is the only relevant permit associated with aquatic nuisance control.
**Any pesticide application to state surface waters in any amount requires permit coverage. A state surface water is any body of water or drainage system in MT. This includes things like rivers, lakes, wetlands, ditches, swales, and coulees. It does not include ponds/lagoons used solely for treating/impounding pollutants, or irrigation waters or land application disposal waters if the waters are not returned to state waters.
Presentation Summary
For the second session of Missoula County’s herbicide webinar series, Jon Gosselin will be presenting an overview of aquatic herbicide application. Gosselin will discuss the methods, modes of action, monitoring efforts, and regulations of aquatic herbicides. This presentation will focus on real-life examples of aquatic herbicide applications highlighting several different species and water body types. Additionally, he will touch on the EPA’s role, the state registration process, approvals, permits, and notifications for aquatic herbicide use.
The purpose of this presentation is to provide knowledge for decision making around the use of aquatic herbicides as a potential solution to invasive aquatic plant infestations.
Key Topics -
