Terrestrial and Riparian Herbicide Applications
The third session of Missoula County’s herbicide webinar series is a presentation by Jeffrey Pettingill focused on terrestrial and riparian applications for herbicide. This presentation will cover small-scale terrestrial application considerations such as weed identification, seasonality, weather conditions, chemical options, and PPE basics. Additionally, this presentation will describe how to differentiate between irrigation corridors and riparian areas to limit non-target impacts of terrestrial herbicide use.
The purpose of this session is to provide landowners with the tools to reduce non-native species on their own properties as well as to provide knowledge of how to protect Montana’s aquatic resources.

Speaker -
Jeffrey Pettingill has been the Mountain West Territory Sales Manager for Alligare covering Eastern Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, and Utah since February 2024. Prior to this he was a County Weed Supervisor for 24 years. Twenty of those years were at Bonneville County Weed Control in Idaho Falls where, during his tenure, he served on the Idaho Weed Control Association Board of Directors for 15 years as well as on the Board of Directors of the Idaho Association of County Weed Supervisors. He has been a member of the Idaho Noxious Weed Control Association for over 35 years.
