Born in Montana, Michael lives on his farm near Flathead Lake with his wise wife and playful daughter. He operates The Native Seed Foundation, a company that has aided thousands of acres of land rehabilitation efforts by gathering and providing native seeds.

He also runs Nourishing Roots Farm, a seed farm and nursery dedicated to investigating resilient plants from around the world and providing them to gardeners. Inspired by the way that landscapes shape culture and vice versa, Michael seeks knowledge from teachers and ecosystems alike to cultivate true landscape-literacy. Via farming, teaching, seed stewardship, and Earthworks he fosters good relations between people and place.

"By seeking and sharing skills we all become more empowered to live as extensions of the lands we dwell on."
