We will focus on the characteristics of plant families and the basics of plant identification such as the parts of flowers and leaves. Learn how to use a plant flora. If you have it, bring your copy of the Manual of Montana Vascular Plants by Peter Lesica. Bring a 10x plant lens if you have one or a magnifying glass. If not MSU Extension has some to share!!! We’ll explore the flowering plants in the Rocky Mountain gardens.
Bring water bottle and protect yourself from the sun! We will go into the Lupine lab for part of the class.

Taught by Robyn Klein, MSc. Medical Botanist. Robyn teaches the botany of flowering plants to K-12 teachers in the Masters of Science in Science Education program at Montana State University.
