Working with Natural Dyes

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

In this hands-on workshop, Clarissa Holmes will lead you through the process of using flowers, leaves, roots and bark to transfer color on fabric. Each participant will use locally collected materials to create their own unique bandana infused with colors from plants.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Clarissa Holmes is a natural dye artist from Hamilton. She has spent the last 10 years abroad, exploring and studying natural dye traditions. She has developed a wide knowledge of techniques, plants and customs surrounding natural dyes, and has facilitated several workshops with the intention to connect people with plants, color and textile sustainability.
