Agriculture is the backbone of Western Montana, yet farmers and ranchers often shoulder stress, uncertainty, and isolation that go unseen. Better Together: A Wellness Series for Farmers & Ranchers is a free, bi-weekly program designed specifically to support the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of those working the land.
Rooted in research and developed through MSU Extension’s USDA WRASAP wellness initiative, this four-session series offers practical tools to help producers strengthen resilience, manage stress, and reconnect with purpose and community. Each two-hour workshop blends science-based strategies with hands-on exercises, guided reflection, and resources tailored to agricultural life.
Participants will explore:
Strategies for managing stress and anxiety during unpredictable seasons
Practical mindfulness techniques that fit into busy farm/ranch routines
Mental fitness skills for clearer decision-making and problem-solving
Tools for building emotional agility and reframing challenges
Resources and support programs available through local ag partners
The program is facilitated in partnership with Deep Roots Life Coaching and MT Farm Connect, ensuring participants receive both wellness tools and direct connections to local agricultural support networks.
Whether you’re navigating weather uncertainty, commodity price swings, long hours, or the weight of responsibility, this series is an opportunity to step away from the daily grind, learn alongside peers, and strengthen the skills that help you thrive—on and off the farm.
Join us for snacks, conversations, hands-on learning, and a supportive space built for Montana producers. We’re truly better together.
