Join MSU Extension and Montana Department of Livestock Veterinarian, Dr. Brenee Peterson, for a very important biosecurity update for all horses and livestock in Montana.

3 Takeaways from the event:
1) Attendees will receive recent animal health updates related to diseases affecting a variety of animals in Montana and across the United States. Animal health updates may include Johnes, High pathogenic avian influenza and equine diseases like West Nile, Equine Herpes Virus and Equine Infectious Anemia.
2) Attendees will learn about disaster preparedness centered around a foreign animal disease outbreak and how to protect their operation.
3) Attendees will also have an active involvement in developing a state-wide communication plan for the state of Montana that can be utilized during a foreign animal disease outbreak.
Who is Dr. Brenee Peterson:
Dr. Brenee Peterson grew up on the family farm north of Havre, Montana. Her family raises Polled Hereford cattle and farms many acres of wheat. At a young age, she knew she wanted to be a part of agriculture and decided to pursue veterinary medicine. Dr. Peterson earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Montana State University. After receiving her Bachelor’s degree, she attended veterinary school and was part of the inaugural class of the WIMU program through Washington State University. She graduated from Washington State in 2018. Following graduation, Dr. Peterson worked as an associate veterinarian in communities throughout the state. Throughout the years she enjoyed practicing mixed animal medicine and enjoyed performing soft tissue surgeries. She transitioned into regulatory medicine last fall to help the agricultural community in Montana.
In her off time, Dr. Peterson enjoys hiking, camping, traveling and helping on the farm. She also enjoys going on adventures with her two mutts Tony and Turk. Along with playing fetch with her cat Tang.
